Edit: That's got to be the least-broken HTML I've ever seen Word put out. Don't like the hard-coded font size, but it could be much, much worse.

I'm bored. And need something new to read. Preferably big fat space opera, along the lines of Weber, Bujold, or Zahn's good stuff. I've kinda blown through all their books recently, so I'm looking for someone new.

I'll also take any fantasy recommendations, so long as there's no dragons. I tried Naomi Novik's books, but found that Anne McCaffrey has too thoroughly warped my mind to make them enjoyable. (Let me preempt brendan_moody's A Song of Ice and Fire recommendation—I'm looking for something a bit less... heavy.)

I know that I don't post much; expect that to become even more curtailed for a bit. After I opened my computer and dusted it... it no longer works.

Argh.

Yay! I have RAM! Yippee!

*ahem* Now I'm up to 1.5 GB, from 512 MB. And World of Warcraft is actually playable under Windows, even in Lagforge—err, Ironforge. I shudder to think of what heights of performance it'll reach under Linux.

Best $70 I spent in a while. :D

*sigh* Could someone please explain to me why World of WarCraft runs better in Linux (with some specific Windows-related stuff being emulated) than it does in Windows? :p

For two, maybe three days now, I've been working on trying to browbeat Norton Ghost into creating a copy of my XP installation onto another drive, so that I can upgrade to Windows Server 2003. (Why? Because I want Terminal Server, damn it. :p)

So, I finally get it copied... only to discover that you can't upgrade from either personal or professional OSes (read: what normal people use) to a server version. *headdesk*

Finding this out before I nuked my Linux installation would've been nice. Grr. Argh.

Andrew's lesson of the day: deleting files from a USB memory key doesn't put them in the Recycle Bin.

Why is it that the normals can't treat their servers properly? I'd switch my e-mail account to the Engineering e-mail server, except at the moment the machine I need to use to switch is busted too. *grr*

If they have wireless Ethernet, and they have Power-Over-Ethernet, why the heck don't we have wireless power yet?
